Vintage Vixen Ultima - need help (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I bought on occasion a Vixen Ultima 8x42 which turned out to be a very good device. So I tried to find out when it could be manufactured but didn't succeed. The general impression is like it could be 1980s. The "Mikiko" signature doesn't look like factory print, so it must be a previous owner name/marking.

Probably someone owns this model and could share any information on manufacturing history. I would really appreciate any ideas. Thank you!

The s/n is 002H2493.

Hi!
I have had a Vixen Ultima 8x32 and bought it 1997-99(don't remember exactly). It was exactly the same color and design as your. So yours are probably from mid to late 90s.

I have 2 swift ultralites (8x42) that look a lot like the vixen ultimas, not to mention the celestron ultimas (the first generation, not current iteration). It may be later than that perhaps the early/mid 90's. Same FOV, same eyecups, also has JB56 on the forward axle lugs. Excellent focuser, light and bright with decent ER for eyeglass wearers (a bit narrow FOV but one adapts). Pat

Thanks guys! I was too tempted to get one more since it was available. Also in mint condition. The serial is 811H4098.
I think 002H and 811H is something like batch number, and other 4 digits are a serial number within a batch. But still no guess if it's possible to date them more or less precisely.

Binos and coffers seem to be absolutely identical, 811H differs in strap only (leather). 002H has synthetic strap colored exactly as coffer strap.

Sorry, it should read "... in strap only (rubber)".
