Slender-billed gull? Baghdad, Jan 19 (1 Viewer)

I do beg your pardon - thanks for checking. The central bird in pic 1 is a slender-billed gull - nice prehistoric look, to quote the late DIMW.

This bird still gives me the impression of an adult summer plumage SBG, although I'll admit it's impossible to be 100% sure because of the quality

Thanks Gadiator, some of the photos are pretty blurry:) I hope to get there again and will look for SBG now that I know at least one has been there:)

Thanks, @Vyomkesh for the tag. Agree with the above, both birds in the OP are Slender-billed Gulls. The one in the front is a bit more mature in an age when compared with the individual in the bg.

Thanks Lou, much appreciated you took the time to look at these. Your comments are most helpful:)

Very much appreciate your images bhutjoe!
If you can supply anymore 1st Winter SBG images with just the “single” black dot…behind and below the eye.
I for one, would appreciate seeing them on this thread.

Many thanks👍

Thanks Vyom for your id, much appreciated. Thanks Ken, I hope to get back to where these photos were taken in the next couple of weeks and now know to keep a look out for SBG. If I get any half-way decent pics of gulls with a black spot I will likely be asking for confirmation here as I don't feel confident I can distinguish with certainty between non-adult SBG and BHG.
thanks again to everyone for your comments
