My local patch is a small nature reserve that surrounds my road, it is an ancient chalk grassland with lots of dense cover. It has an open area at the top though with long grass and scattered bushes. Kestrels and Yellowhammer frequent here. There are also open patches around the dense bushes. At the bottom of one side it is dry with low vegetation, perfect for Goldinches and Greater Whitethroats.
