Was such a lovely day today decided to go for a walk.It was sunny with no
wind ,temperatures hovering around -14'c in the afternoon.Walked around
7 kms.in my old haunt St Boniface Industrial Park in the northeast of Winnipeg.
Was not expecting much due to it being winter and there is not much to
attract birds(feeders trees etc).As I got into the"park" seen 2 Black-billed
Magpies.
Overhead were 11 American Crows playing! In one of the few
woodlots I could see a Great Horned Owl perched,I think this owl and it's
partner are getting ready to nest.Seen them a few times lately in the same
area! And always a savior in winter in Manitoba 2 Black-capped Chickadees.
Sorry folks for the scarcity of species, but that's birding in Manitoba in the
winter unless you drive hundreds of miles all over the province.

Some very nice winter sightings.
I haven't seen a Great Horned Owl as yet.
I figure another 60 days or so and we could see the start of the spring migration.
Birds have been pretty scarce around our place this winter. Really looking forward to spring.

60 days is too long!:-CBy the beginning of March raptors should start
arriving!:t:Talk about spring was amazed to see a American Robin fly
into my yard as I went for a bike ride. Was going to look for Bohemian
Waxwings that had been reported near my house. No luck and I am getting
very frustrated:-O every other birder in Winnipeg has seen one.Did see
chickadees, crows and house sparrows.;).Have you seen any
Snowy Owls out in the Carmen area seem to be a lot out that way!

Haven't seen any owls at all, but I haven't been out bird watching much in the last month. Hope to start getting out more this week. I haven't seen a Bohemian wax wing yet, keep hoping one will pop up in our travels. They are supposed to be around Carmen but not very frequently.
We had Robins here pretty much all of last winter but I haven't seen any since November this winter.
