Two photos attached of the same bird. Is it a Gray Catbird? Or what?

I suspect the bird is the normal dark grey, it's the camera that is off. Second shot is overexposed (camera confused by dark background). First shot is more interesting: camera / photographer detected a bright sky and set exposure to bring the bird to a medium brightness while ignoring the sky, which was the right idea, but without knowing the bird's true color you end up with a medium grey.
