small Pipit, Thai-Myanmar border (1 Viewer)

I photographed this Pipit this morning, assuming that it was a Red-throated, however I cannot convince myself that it isn't a Rosy (a species I have zero experience of).

I don't have any fieldguides with me, so have been reliant on internet trawling, which has done nothing to convince me it isn't a Rosy.

Any input gratefully received.

Best wishes,

Dave

That underpart streaking seems typical for Rosy to me. Was it in fields near marshes? They are common in that habitat just across the border in Shan state, around Inle Lake.

Thanks for the comments everybody!

James, it was in open paddies that are drying out at the moment. I went back this morning and saw one or two birds similar to this bird (perhaps including the same individual), plus a number of R-t Pipits. Will post more photos on my blog and here over the weekend.

Best wishes,

Dave
