Anyone have any ideas? Longer legs rule out Arctic I think? Not sure if the black droopy bill is real or just the light and conditions.

Can't really tell what it is from the images, but eastern Common Tern ssp longipennis have black bills quite late in the season.

Common Tern bills go black when they go into winter plumage but didn't know the legs go lighter. Is it not ridiculously late for a Common?

Although this bird is likely to be a Common and certainly not an Arctic, there must be a possibility of it being a Roseate. The date does seem late but there have been a couple around recently including this one (scroll down to Nov 3rd) in Dorset.

I think it's we're in with a case of ruling out what it's not. Arctic has been given the heave ho but is there enough to rule out Rosy? Is the back too dark? It's look more likely that a positive id wont be found so the most accurate probable is the best we can do.
