A mixed week weather wise - a few glorious days, one deluge, quite a lot of wind. It all started badly when the helicopter was cancelled due to poor visibility. The only upside to spending 3 hours on the ferry was that we saw lots of Gannets and Common Dolphins.
Wader migration was well under way: Curlew, Whimbrel, Sanderling, Dunlin, Greenshank, Common and Green Sandpiper, Turnstone, Ruff. There was a Little Stint. Saw of the group saw it but not me!
St Mary's, Tresco and St Agnes proved to be the most prolific islands. We had good views of Basking Sharks on two different days.
On our last evening, we took a boat trip and saw 8 Manx Shearwaters bobbing about on a calm sea. As the sun set, a huge orange moon rose over St Mary's. Magical.
63 birds for the trip, some of the group saw more, but nothing rare.
