Muscovy Duck found in Sheffield ...
Looking for any advice here really ....
I work in Sheffield and we have suddenly inherited a Muscovy Duck which has decided to make the steelworks I work at its home ! Its not the ideal place for a duck to live but it does seem healthy enough and is perfectly able to fly. It flew off once to the river nearby when a couple of guys tried to catch it but then came straight back again so it obviously seems quite happy to be where it is. It spends most of its time standing at the edge of the steel stockyard and has been there for 2 weeks now. We have forklift trucks and the like constantly traveling around the place but up to now things have been ok. It appears to be an escape and is quite approachable (up to a point of course) and is being fed bread and scraps every day by the more kindhearted of us. Anyone any suggestions ? I would just phone the RSPCA but I,m concerned that if they cannot rehome the poor guy it might be put to sleep and therefore is better off where it is ! Alternatively could it be taken to a local reservoir and let loose there or would it then be attacked by the resident species ... Bit of a loss as to what to do really ??

Hi Dave - Muscovys are commonly kept in small colections and in farm environments (being from S America, it probably isn't a true vagrant
). I know there's a guy in Bolsterstone that has a few - he'd be sure to take it away for you if you are worrying about its present location.
