Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

If one wants to be critical, a pantone color checker could be used. (And read lots of color science) Under natural light (ie full spectrum light), view the color checker without then with the binocular. It will show you hue shifts, in addition to the commonly done test for tint.

Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

The bino is a filter, and the transmitted spectrum is no longer Natural Light, but Filtered Light.

So 5000k fluoro is not neutral white? I guess we define neutral differently.

Since canip introduced bf to chatgpt, here is what it says about colour of a binocular view : "Tell me about colour accuracy vs colour neutrality in binoculars" Color accuracy and color neutrality are both important factors to consider when choosing binoculars. Color accuracy refers...

You brought up 600nm, not me. I've read your review paper, it is interesting thank you. I'll repost the role model EDG spectrum here. courtesy of allbinos.

Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

Gijs, Wikipedia defines RED as approximately 625-740nm. If we don't value 600nm+, then indeed we get worse red colour rendering. If we make the same argument on the other end of the spectrum, we can degrade blue/violet transmission as colour vision is insensitive to that region too. BLUE...

Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

Hi Edmund, what transmission range would you consider flat transmission? Is 420-650nm adequate, or 400-700nm? Or even 380-750nm I ask because Nikon and Leica have a long history of extending transmission beyond 700nm, which is clearly important to them. Whereas swaro seems to discard...

Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

The psychology of colours to me is that pink tint leads you to like the subject more (think sunset), green tint makes it easier to pull a trigger (think wicked witch of the west), and blue tint feels fresh and clean (think blue sky after rain).

Further to the colour temperature difference (not being strict, just analogy here), the incandescent light has excellent colour rendering. It is the favoured continuous lighting for best skin tone eg at west-end productions. The reason being broader smoother spectrum of light, for incandescence.

Zeiss - warm led light Swaro - cool led light Leica and nikon - incandescent light Some will understand exactly what i mean.

Paul, good to hear your SF experience supports my analysis! Bill, I have an inkling Zeiss is ending MIG in the near ish future. They are giving MIJ better coatings than the premium product. And with Leica no longer using MIG, there is less hesitance now.

Do the owners of both Zeiss SF and Swarovski EL/NL feel they are uncomfortable for the different color cast?

I just made the switch from EL to SF 8x32 and there are many noticeable differences, whereas going from one swaro to another feels very familiar. I notice the colour change immediately, less blue/brilliance, greens and yellows are good, skin tones are below leica nikon. To me the colour balance...
