    I had a walk from Taxal layby on Saturday. Didn't see any Bramblings but there was a Crossbill singing from the top of one of the conifer trees at Taxal church yard. Also a Dipper on the river at Hillbridge & two Buzzards displaying over Shallcross Wood.

    The Crossbills were still about yesterday. A flock of about 40 were by The Street carpark again along with good numbers of Siskin & Coal Tits.

    Around 30 Crossbills, including some singing birds, were showing well this morning at the start of the track which runs south from the top end of The Street car park. Also several Siskin in the same area. A further two Crossbills flew south over Goyt's Clough Quarry car park calling later.

    Went & did my BTO Breeding Bird Survey in the Goyt on Wednesday & ended up spending the rest of the day in the valley. Plenty of raptor activity on the moors which is good to see.
