At least 2 gulls were on their last legs at the flashes today, the water didn't seem very clean, perhaps worth checking? The gulls at the Moors seemed much more healthy.

The Bearded Tit was at the Moors in the SW marsh this afternoon.

Yesterday I found the best place to see the Bearded Tit was from the East Hide, it was right of the concrete hide and not viewable from that hide or the West Hide as the bushes got in the way. If looking from the west side then the gap in the hedge would likely give the best chance of seeing it...

No sign of the Bearded Tits this morning but the Ruddy Shelduck flew in with Greylags.

It's probably nearer from the A38 but parking is a problem at either end, it's a pity the reserve carpark isn't open. I believe some park at Webbs.

The WWT need to get the volunteers back to cut the hedges in places to see over and cut the grass to widen the paths then the reserve could be reopened, surely the hides could be used safely if notices were put up to say keep 1-2 metres apart? there is no problem using the hides at Belvide. If...

Another colour ringed Black-headed Gull was seen on the 3/7/20 from the public footpaths around Upton Warren, (Yellow 2KTV). I have had a reply from the ringers - Ringed in Essex in March 2015 as a 3rd year old or older, in 2016 and 17 it was in Latvia, 2018 it was seen around the West Mids and...

I would say the 3rd picture was taken in Sept. 2012 and it's an Osprey (I bet not many have been seen to land there). Photo 2 Not much water :- That's how it used to look in the good old days 70's and 80's when there was a 1st and 2nd Flash and plenty of waders.

The Flashes would be best, easier to set up the camera and better security.

As we can't visit Upton Warren at the present time I'm watching the birds at Urdaibai Bird Center in the Basque Country see https://www.birdcenter.org/en/birds/bird-cams-birds-in-the-urdaibai-marsh I wonder if it would be possible to set up a webcam at UW, it would be good publicity for the WWT...

I was reading a paper by John Belsey? in the hide where I think it said that salinity can be 4 times higher than sea water at times of low water levels. I also visited the Hen Brook hide which is very overgrown but did see a small brown mammal which looked too small for a Water Vole, so one of...

The only waders I saw at the flashes this morning were 75 Lapwing. I did note that there were very few flies along the waters edge and wondered if this indicates very high levels of salinity with all the evaporation and why there are no other waders here? At Manby Flashes near Louth Lincs last...

At the flashes this morning were 1 Oystercatcher, 41 Avocet, 4 LRP, 16 Curlew and 4 Green Sandpiper. Water levels are looking good at the moment for wader passage. It was good to see some Marbled Whites around the Aztec buildings and also at the Moors near the Farm buildings.

A Ruff flew around the flashes at 1230 and was on Moors Pool later.
