Thanks Phil. A couple of notes from Sunday. I was in the Avocet hide when the birder next to me alerted me to a plover flying left to right (and angled slightly towards the hide). I soon got on the bird and it was obviously a 'ringed' type. As it drew level with the sewage works behind, it...

We all love birdwatching, and often for differing reasons. For me I love to find out the context of various sightings (be they common or rare), and your stats hit the mark for Upton Warren! Cheers Phil B (:B

Thanks Phil (or should that be Statto) for a wonderful run through of the 2016 UW highlights - what a good year it was. Also a word of thanks to the wardens and work party attendees for doing such a great job. May 2017 bring all of you more birds (and cakes).

My dad (Dave Palmer) saw the gull and suggested Caspian. He's seen them before but was not 100% certain of this one so was a bit tentative. He's hoping there will be a few comments on the photos.

Ravenwing - It's a male Migrant Hawker (Azure would get the Worcs Dragonfly recorder in a panic as they are only found in Scotand). Look out for the small yellow 'golf tee' on the body near to where the hind wings meet. Great photos.

Just after one of the snow flurries passed through today, at about 2:30 pm an adult Common Gull was mingling in with the BH Gulls on the Moors. Great to see Avocets back !! Cracking birds that 35 years ago (when I started birding) would have never been expected to be such a Midlands, let alone...

I remember a few twitches with Laurie from many years ago - the long car journeys simply flew by as the 'Call My Bluff' episodes were so riveting !!!
