    Habicht for birdwatching?

The focus wheel of my Habicht 10x40 GA became very smooth after use for approximately one year by the previous owner (before selling it I used it rarely). For me, it is as smooth as my 10x40 SFL (I think the focus wheel of my SFL unit is a bit stiff). The previous owner got the same answer as...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Thank you for your useful suggestion. Under normal circumstances, fogging has never occurred to me. It happened when I tried with winged eyecups to block side light to avoid reflections on eyepieces. I assume the bino bandit would give a bit more room than winged eyecups so the fogging will be...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Today I got my previous Habicht 10x40 GA back. Now the focus wheel of it became very smooth with the use of the previous owner. It is just the same as the focus wheel of my Habicht 7x42. Hopefully, the bino bandit would resolve the problem with the eyepiece reflections (unless it induces fogging...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

I ordered an Alpine bino bandit as a solution to reduce reflections that occur on the eyepiece of habichts. It can also be used to cover eyepieces when not in use which would act halfway as rainguards. The only problem I would face is the fogging of eyepiece lenses.

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Yes I know you are also a big fan of Habichts. Even though I do not have any experience with 8x30, it is surely a superior performer. One day I would like to try it however still I am lucky for not having a desire for it in the moment 😃 Definitely the FL and Leica BN and other 7’s you have are...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Unfortunately, only other binoculars I compared with Habicht 7x42 are Curios. They are both different animals so comparison is not fair. However I really like the classic look and 3D of Habichts.

    Habicht for birdwatching?

It is all a personal choice. I found out I like the leatherette version more than the GA. GA version is too bulky to me. Also I like the narrow eyecups of the leatherette version. However as you said they both nice the way they are 😊 Me too like higher powers. However I prefer Habicht 7x42 more...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Oh. Selling binoculars brings bad luck, as one of our BF members said before. That’s why I am going to purchase back the only binoculars I have ever sold 😃

    Habicht for birdwatching?

That’s correct. If I want a larger FOV NL 8x would do it. However, I really like the characteristics of small FOV of Habicht 7x42. Finally I see 3D in binoculars with it. It needs less focusing while 3D effect make finding birds easier. Although I miss a bit of mag. I am not sure how your eyes...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

This is a quick update to my recent purchase of Habichts. Today I received both 7x42 and 10x40 in leatherette. They look gorgeous, feel lighter and comfortable in my medium size hands compared to the 10x40 GA I had before. I felt 10x40 GA was too bulky for me. The focuser of 7x42 is much...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

10x40 in leatherette.... I have some CA issues with SFL 10x40 in certain conditions. Therefore, Habichts 10x40 will be used in those conditions. My original plan was to buy an NL 12x42 for that. But thought to go for the less expensive Habicht 10x40 since I have the SFL 10x40 as well. Another...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

I had the same experience with the Habicht 10x40 that I had. However, I used it even in forest areas without having any major problems. Of course, my pointing finger got some pain over time of use. When I shifted to using NL I felt a major difference in focusing comfort. The focus stiffness of...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Since you have a little experience about binoculars, my experience might help you on deciding a good pair of binoculars as your first purchase. I have experience with a few binoculars with prices ranging from 25-2500 euros. (Of course most of the BF members have experience with a lot more...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

The short answer is I do not recommend a Habicht over other Swarovski roofs or Nikon roofs if it is going to be your only binoculars. As @dorubird mentioned in his review especially Habicht 7x42 has a strong personality and it is not for everyone. However, Habicht 8x30 or 10x40 can be your only...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

Unfortunately, I didn’t think something like that before selling Habicht 10x40. It would have worked for me if it had a bit more eye relief. Now I kind of miss it and regret about the decision I made. But that time my finances were worse and wanted to sell it to get some money in the hand 😊

    Habicht for birdwatching?

That’s great 😁 Time to time optics shops offers installment payments with PayPal with 0% interest. So I noticed one for My Junior and then saw it is for all Swarovski products. It was early in the morning and I just showed it to my wife. She just said why don’t you buy it, if you can pay in...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

I was seriously thinking of buying a Habicht 7x42 solely for low-light use. If its' low-light use is marginal compared to the NL 8x42, I wouldn't go for it and instead wait and spend a bit more money on a UV 7x42 or Retro 7x35 if I need the characteristics of a 7x. Thank you @Scott98 for the...

    Habicht for birdwatching?

After a few months of selling Habicht 10x40 GA due to compatibility issues, I am thinking of trying another Habicht, 7x42. I want a binocular for low-light uses. Even though SLC 8x56 could be the better option, the weight of it makes me hesitate to go towards it. However, having NL in 8x42, I am...
