Haven't been this year but don't find the place very reliable. Have been known to completely dip, other times, just 1s and 2s.

I made one final attempt on Thursday having dipped Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening. Lots of different stories about where it had been seen, how long ago, what it had been flushed by etc. Very frustrating given how close to home this is for me.

Good point, I'm honestly not sure if or when they leave the area. I tend to pick them up Jan or Feb but I have seen them in August.

Mediterranean gull is reliable from Holbeck car park approaching Scarborough from the south, either in the car park, on the roofs or failing that, down in the bay below.

Never mind, caught up with it at swilly this morning.

I found the police dept on google maps. Is the pond easy to find from here? The bird was apparently moving between here and swilly but no reports yesterday then back today...

No sign of lekking but still managed a single male Black grouse plus the hoped for Raven fly over to round off the year. Happy new year to all

May be heading up for black grouse in the next few days, anyone know any reliable raven spots nearby without leaving Yorkshire?

I really hope the artist is wrong then. :(

I wasn't aware. It doesn't help the argument against the caravan development and seems totally unnecessary to me.

Got the run around from the OB pipit today which would have been a lifer but some great birds over the day. Highlights included Masked shrike obviously, Barred warbler plucking a huge dragonfly out of the air, Spotted, Pied and RB flycatcher, Hen harrier and Jacksnipe. Also blackcap, garden...

Pleasant evening at Fairburn and Swilly yesterday. Pair of Spoonbill at Lin Dike with at least 5 little egret too. Snipe, Green woodpecker and an assortment of warblers there as well. Barn owl already out at 8.30pm at swilly hauling a sizeable rodent while being harassed by a magpie.

Is the car park at the pavilion locked out of hours now? I remember parking in there for free early doors several years ago because there was nobody at the booth.

Thanks for that, looks like I won't be able to go until Sunday now anyway

Any info on the rose-coloured starling near Doncaster, i.e. is it a private site and if not, whereabouts is it?

Wood warblers at bolton abbey were apparently late last year with some reported a week or so after the meeting. This was the main reason we went for a later visit this time round although the previous two years there was no problem picking them up in early May. Fingers crossed.

LDV is the lower derwent valley. Various sites to park and view. If you check out the First Tyke meet thread there are some details of several sites within and what was around in January.

Glad you got everything, I went 2 weeks ago and the weather was horrific at long nab, the buntings weren't reported all day and I did 2 laps of the stubble field. It felt like doing cross country back at school! I did get brilliant views of Gos and the BT diver was still at the fishing lakes...

Couldn't get on here yesterday when I tried but thanks for this, should have thought to check that site. Going for an east coast run tomorrow so I'll try for them if they are reported today.

Anyone know if the waxwing(s) at harewood dale are reliable and if so where they are favouring?

I was at the site at retford where the firecrest, lesser whitethroat, chiffchaff and siberian chiffchaff were around. Got the first 3 eventually but not the sibe. There was/is a very showy one at the buff bellied pipit site.
