Cheers fellas! I took it yesterday, but I wasn't in Falmouth. We've been to Marrakech for a break.|:$| The bee-eaters and storks were pretty obvious, but I didn't have a book with this one in. I figured it was a variation on a sparrow somewhere down the line. Friendly little chaps with a pretty...

Thanks for that! I went to Swanpool again today, but it was very busy so not much about. This robin kept landing on my camera and was very insistent I took his photo. I've also set a motion detecting camera up in the marsh. I'm gonna leave it a couple of weeks and see if I've caught anything.

    Falmouth Birding

I walked around Swanpool today and saw some tufted duck, little grebe, warblers/chiffchaff (could do with some advice on ID there) and rather pleasingly a water rail. The first I've ever seen. I even got a photo of him, sort of. See if you can spot him.

Ok, I'm at my mums so this isn't strictly speaking Falmouth, but want to put some pics from my new camera! http://s279.beta.photobucket.com/user/nickstanning/media/IMG_0082_zps158fe29d.jpg.html?sort=3&o=14...

Thanks dan. Yeah I've looked at pics and was fairly certain, I just wanted confirmation that they can be found down here. If you walk from Swanpool toward maenporth and maybe take a flask of tea, the war memorial has a nice bench to sit and wait for her. She flew with me for around a mile...

I've seen a raptor for the last two days on the cliffs between Swanpool and maenporth. It's quite happy to sit while I watch it. it is brown all over and slightly smaller than the magpie who came to hassle it. Is it a merlin? It doesn't look like a kestrel as it doesn't have the grey head, or...

    Falmouth Birding

While up near stack point with the dog today I saw an unknown bird of prey. It was hovering over a field using wing beats combined with the updraft from the slope, but it was too big for a kestrel or hawk. It was also too small for a buzzard and looked too "tidy" if you know what I mean? I...

To dan and warren. I have the Yukon ranger 5x42. It's a digital set, very clear and range can be further enhanced with a more powerful ir torch if required. Identification of the barn owl was a hoot at 50 yards (sorry, couldn't resist) I struggled with light interference on the water last night...

Hmm, lots of sleeping ducks, swans and plenty of coot activity, a rather urbanised fox in the car park and plenty of rats around the crazy golf. I think I'll try a more traditional approach this morning.

Ok, the summers over, business is settling back to normal and the bins are coming back out for the winter. I'm heading down to Swanpool in a minute to try my night vision equipment. I had a play in wadebridge last night and was rewarded with some great shows by barn owls as well as deer, fox and...

I went to a meeting hosted by the Restronguet Creek Society in Devoran yesterday. A good turn out in the village hall for a talk from representatives of the Cornwall wildlife trust, emphasising the need for people to pass records of sightings on via their website. Went on a bit, but not too bad...

    Falmouth Birding

I've been housebound for the last weeks, but took a trip to swan pool with the kids today. I had the best showing of a little grebe I've seen yet. He was just pottering around where the girls were feeding the ducks. Also saw great crested grebe amongst the usual throng.

I was at swanpool today too! Unfortunately I'm very new to this so can't really help, but it was the variety I've seen there and along swanvale today which has led to me joining this forum.
