    NE Wales birdingwatching

    Hawfinches near Minera Quarry Had great views yesterday of two Hawfinches near Minera Quarry west of Wrexham. They were at the start of the track down to the quarry from Gwynfryn (SJ254524).

    NE Wales birdingwatching

    I visited the flooded fields along the River Dee north of Holt this afternoon. A group of 10 Whooper Swans were there as well as at least 70 Pintails, 8 Shelduck and 100s of Lapwings and gulls. As I walked back to the car a beautiful adult Mediterranean Gull flew over heading south.

    There was a Slavonian or Black-necked Grebe yesterday at Afonwen Sand Quarry between Mold and Denbigh but too far away for me to be sure which one it was. Also two Little Grebes there. Afterwards I went to Ysceifiog Lake which had plenty of birds including 7 Gadwall, 16 Shoveler, 10 Teal and 9...
