    Hi Harry (or anyone who can answer) How many life stages are there for a shieldbug and what are they?. I have seen the references to Nymphs and instars What does instar mean? Hope you don`t mind these questions. I`ve suddenly realised there is a lot I don`t know.

    Shieldbug I.D please Hi Took this not very good photo in my garden today and cannot find a match in my insect fieldguide First thoughts were Green shield bug but the two dark spots threw me.

    Thanks Stuart Since posting I have noticed more Shieldbugs in my garden, all Hawthorn,they like sunbathing on the house wall,funny I had`nt noticed them before.

    Hi Browsing this "sticky" reminded me that I had taken this photo whilst on holiday in Dorset at the end of June, am I right in thinking it is a Sloe Shield Bug?
