Hi Samuel, Interesting, by way of comparison I was at Porthgwarra between 09:15 & 10:45 and had 380 manxies, that's 4.2pm and I certainly missed a lot as I was on my own and was regularly looking way beyond the manxie line. Presumably we pick up more birds the further west you are, or are your...

Typical muddled response! The birds were at Mylor Churchtown in the churchyard at approx SW820352. Note, as Dan said not seen this afternoon, but may well return. Good luck if you go. Hope this helps. Dave

Yes, the record was submitted as a Wood Sandpiper with an accompanying photo that was less than clear due to the distance involved. I was a bit concerned by a number of features but posted it anyway and contacted the observer who was convinced that it was indeed a Wood Sand. I then asked if...

Hi, just to give any locals a heads up on an potentialy interesting e mail I received this afternoon. "Hi I was out gig rowing in the Carrick Roads, off Mylor harbour, yesterday evening, when we came upon a very large bird bobbing around in the water. We're used to seeing cormorants as we row...

Hi Jon, I don't suppose you checked the southern causeway at Carnmenellis as well, while you were there? RBA reported a drake RND from there yesterday. I'm assuming they are one and the same but it would nice to have confirmation that you looked in the area and didn't see one. Dave

Technically, the answer is no and has been for the past 12 years! See here. This however has not stopped birders visiting the site, hence Dan's regular reports. Access is normally much easier from the Argal end but this may have changed now remedial works have started. Hope this helps. Dave

What you have to remember Dan, is that Birdguides and other news services are primarily interested in rarities and good local birds like spot reds slip under their radar. As such they have minimal use for scientific or conservation services which is one of the reasons CBWPS set up the Daily...

"Falmouth: Great White Egret reported on Castle Beach between the rock pools and the tunnel". Paraphrased from RBA, seems an unlikely location, but stranger things have happened. Dave

No, it has been reported as the race curruca. Although no details or description have been supplied (to my knowledge). However, why would they, if the bird is of the nominate race? Dave
