    The first time I went to South Africa in 97 I stayed on a farm and also noticed the lack of raptors. The farmer suggested there was a lot of indiscriminate bait poisoning going on.

    Have been in South Africa the past few weeks and, although I've seen a wide variety of raptors, I'm generally struck by how few there are given the superb habitat almost everywhere and profusion of prey of all kinds.
