    How waterproof is your anorak?

Did just that with my wife the other Sunday - my rustly bulky overtrousers were dry as a bone; my wife's Cascadas... ...were as dry as a bone, too - but MUCH more comfy she suggests. And no rustling! I hope I get some for Christmas.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

I think it's the mix of BF and the proxy server my ISP uses - it's so annoying. It's one reason I don't post so much... waiting is sooo boring. I've complained to ntl to little avail. Odd really - no other site that I use is like this. I'll phone their help line again when I have half an hour to...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Yes - I see it does; but the label on a Goretex coat doesn't say use Nikwax, does it? Odd. But the idea seems spot on and NikWax is incredible stuff. Btw - twenty five seconds to load this reply page. Whew.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Must be right, but my Helly Hansen never said to do anything except wash it and it lasted for very many years and saved me from some of the worst of Dartmoor's rain (which, I know is wussily wet compared to what you get north o'the border!). I've never seen any other coats recommend NikWax...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Whew - twenty seconds for this page to load! Slow today. To my limited knowledge, any breathable coat with a membrane such as Goretex will not be improved with Nikwax TX. This product, I thought, was only used to reproof Paramo kit - which does not have a membrane. My old membrane Helly Hansen...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

You're meaning Paramo, are you? I think the tumble drier does the job, too.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

I would have thought so - but many machines hang on to lots of powder in the drawer and this might be the reason the previous waterproofing failed. Also, of course, it's vital to use a non-detergent wash powder or liquid. I wouldn't use anything other than NikWax but it's pricey and I do wonder...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

The washer needs to be free of previous detergent or the Nikwax will not adhere to the garment. Best, I find, to handwash then tumble dry.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Yes -the lack of rustling is a major point in Paramo's favour - the material is ultra quiet and soft. I like the way that the waterproofing element cannot deteriorate in the way a membrane must eventually. I think their kit is a delight in every way. I can't speak too highly of it.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Went out in the wind and rain yesterday and my did it pour. But the Paramo kit was, as ever, comfortable and we were as dry as can be. I love being out in that weather - so fresh. The Cascada trousers are a dream - worth the price.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

The coat must surely need reproofing - simply wash in Nikwax and it's done. The trousers? Not all Paramo trousers are waterproof - some just windproof. I have never seen a waterproof Paramo garment become soaking wet - there simply has to be some issue here. Water just beads off our Paramo gear...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

You won't know how good Paramo is until you've bought one - and then you'll never want anything else. Their products are comfy, the most breathable, the most long lasting and the quietest. They physically 'pump' water away from you in a completely different way from a typical 'waterproof'...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

You won't be buying Burberry again, then, Des..? ;-) Glad you like the Paramo coat, Andrew. I haven't met anyone yet who, once they bite the bullet on cost, isn't pleased with Paramo. It is easily the softest and most comfortable wet and windy weather gear available. They have unusual and...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

I'm sure you're right and thanks for the tip. On the other hand, Paramo's base layers (I don't have them, btw!) are about the same price as other top makes, so it makes some sense, in terms of loyalty even, to stick with one manufacturer if you find their kit works for you. I shall look into a...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

I think you're right - it just needs to be a "wicking" material, I suppose.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

You shouldn't need much underneath as the Alta is warm in itself. Also, it is a good idea to keep to Paramo kit as it acts as a unit, wicking mopisture away from the body amazingly effectively (really). If you combine other clothing, you will lose this effect. Check out the Paramo website or...

    How waterproof is your anorak?

It is a real comfort - you don't want to take Paramo kit off. When you are feeling flush and next in Exeter, Andrew, ask to try on the Paramo Taiga fleece. You'll want to leave it on and wear it there and then - and they really do look the business.

Well - and I thought the coat looked the business, myself! They sell well to young mountaineers and the ilk, apparently - surely they are fashion conscious, too?

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Where did you manage that, Andrew? My son needs a light top coat and we were looking yesterday but found nothing to fit his 6'4" frame. The Paramo Fuera would be ideal - but it's £100-00 up here.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

Paramo kit can be stuffed, rolled, squeezed, squashed or whatever because it has no membrane to crinkle, crease or rupture.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

I almost bought a similar coat - Millets can be very good on price. Sadly, they are not made for a 6'4" frame, being too short in length for us tall ones.

    How waterproof is your anorak?

You're right about the Nikwax for boots - it's the best there is and also has the added benefit of making the leather that bit more comfortable. I wouldn't use anything else. The past? I can remember being bought a new yellow cape for cycling when I was a young lad of about eleven. I loved it...
