Swarovski focus wheels
The EL is the only one that uses a spring to help the focuser go back and forth, that is why the reports of the resistance thing, not really an issue. The only model with an open bridge design is the EL, and Swaro. decided to do it this way. Jerry -

I think you are on the right track. I have experience, the Nikon TraveLite 8x25 is similar to the Prostaff being a reverse porro, and the optics are quite good. I also have tried some cheap roofs like the Nikon Acculon in that size range and the optics are not real good. So, the better value...- NDhunter

Nitrogen fill, how long
Over the years I have had only 2 binoculars that had problems inside. One was a Swarovski 8x56 SL that fogged up. The other was a Swarovski 8.5x42 EL SV, that had some fungus growing. Both were serviced by Swarovski with no charge, much to my satisfaction. That is my experience over well over...- NDhunter

Will Swarovski upgrade lenses on older 7x42 B SLC?
This would require a phone call to the service department. It does not sound like those would warrant new lenses, and a slow focus was standard on the model. Internal cleaning means what, fogging ? I do know they won't replace any scratches to lenses without a charge. Swarovski service is... -

I think you should look beyond Swarovski and Leica. Zeiss in the 8x25, either the Terra or the Victory, both great optics and value. Some have compared a few grams of weight difference in some of these above, not important. It is more about the view, handling and enjoyment, and here where... -
