Thanks for that. Puerto Los Mazos will likely be only a stop en route as I think there is nothing key there. Yes, have heard Chencho is the guy for the boats. Also plan to try for spotted rail at Tepec and elsewhere. The Bumblebee pin is very useful, thanks again for the information. Cheers, Paul

I would appreciate any up to date information on the following: 1. Access to Microondas los Mazos (Site 7.5 in Howell). I see few recent ebird visits to this site and wondered if access is now being restricted, anyone tried this location recently? 2. In San Blas, where is the best location to...

Not just me then. The humidity was horrendous at TN. Panti was much easier, just the standard equatorial heat and humidity rather than TN's "boil in the bag" setting.

Rail-Babbler Perhaps I was unlucky at TN but I didn't get a sniff in 5 days. At Panti, I heard a bird after 2 hours and saw it in the same place the next day. 4pm seemed to be the time this individual started vocalising. I had visited the exact spot in the morning.

Malaysian Partridge stake-out I was expecting to put in a couple of hours at most but it took nearly 8 hours to get good views; 5 mins is very good timing indeed.

Thanks Thanks to all that offered advice on birding in Malaysia. Some feedback: The Mountain PP obliged at Bukit Tinggi as per instructions. At Fraser's there are now many bird photographers of the type that do not own binoculars! The Partridge site was like attending a football match, get...

Does anyone have an up to date IOC checklist for Pen. Malaysia that can be used for recording a trip of 21 days, ideally in word or excel, that they can share? Avibase have IOC8.1 but seem to only want to give me 10 days worth of recording room in pdf format. When converted to a document, these...

Good to see you too and thanks again for putting me on the bird. Hope you didn't put in too much time waiting for it to return. I managed to get into work for 07.45!

Andy, that is a nice little collection. I have heard the damn things many times, mainly in August! I get the impression that June is a good time to connect but that is no use to me. Cheers, Paul

Has anybody visited the Richmond stake-out at Fraser's Hill recently? Is it easy to locate the spot to bait?

    Self-drive Thailand itinerary

Cars in Thailand Unless the road has been improved, you will need a real 4x4 for DCD. At KK you cannot go beyond the first stream without a high clearance vehicle but it is easy to hitch hike on the road as there is plenty of traffic or you can arrange a lift up with staff. Otherwise, I have...

Cheers Hi Dave, Thanks for the info. Most on the list are tricky to see and my expectations for a clean-up are low. Have managed untickable view of a few on the list and like Steve Babbs have been frustrated by Rail-Babbler vocalisations in the past. Thanks again and good luck. Drop me a...

Thanks Hi D, Thanks. Have not walked the High Pines trail but it sounds promising, will give it a go. Not even considered the Merapoh entrance at TN due to lack of info. Is it easy to access and is there a trail network? Many thanks. Paul

Thanks Hi Andy Thanks for the info. TN is a difficult place to bird, I thought it was over run with visitors 20 years ago but imagine it has got even busier now. Will spend about 5 days there which is really not enough time, I know. Red-legged Crake in Singapore: Are these resident? Thought...

I shall be visiting Peninsular Malaysia in late July and August and would appreciate any advice/updates on seeing some species I have missed in the past at the following sites: Bukit Tinggi: Rail Babbler, MPP at the far from secret site. Krau: Rail babbler at the magic log-any recent sightings...
