2 Dunlin and a few other, less exciting, bits and bobs this morning up at Erewash Meadows, a nice walk too early on, almost felt like spring if it hadn't have been so frosty.

Hi all, had a report of a Common Crane over Langley Mill 11.30am this morning on the EVW site. "1 seen drifting North at 11:30am Sunday 25th March from Cromford Road, was low and may have dropped on to Erewash Meadows somwhere but lost to view behind houses." Link here Also an Osprey just over...

Waxwings reported at Kirk Hallam, copied from the EVW site: "At 1155, there were 5 Waxwing sat in a tree on Limetree Rise. For those not familiar with the area, coming from Ilkeston, turn right onto Godfrey Drive.* Limetree Rise is just past the school on the left hand side.* About halfway...

Hi - I run a small website with a local birding / wildlife slant (in the UK) and we've developed a small community. So now the obvious thing I want to do is meet up with people and go out birding, etc. If I advertise these meets on my website then I'm led to believe I need PII as I can be sued...

SEO being seen on and off at Woodside NR / Shipley Park over last few weeks. Sometimes seen in a similar area to the bird last year, or was it the year before?, except perhaps seen more often in the area after the old American Adventure car parks on the way to the settling lagoons, in the field...

A couple of White-Fronted Geese been reported near Mapperley Wood today, see link below. A Lesser WF has also been identified with them, which I'm assuming is being put as an escape/feral (though not heard from the finder to that effect)...

Not quite as simple as that elsewhere along the river, at points the boundary diverts along the railway or the river has been diverted, and the biundary follows the original course. I think this caused a few arguments between the Notts and Derbys campts at the Sabine's Gull at Bennerley Marsh in...

Squacc'd it! Glad the Squacco stuck around, thought I'd post my dubious quality pictures here as its still relevant given its on the border and the Notts thread already has some pics in the last thread. The sun was still very low, though better than I thought it could be, hence the over...

The Squacco was showing well this morning, feeding lots (the outlflow it favours is teeming with fish), just on the Notts bank of the river. I parked on one of the laybys on the road into Attenborough just past the railway crossing, then walked along the rough track by the railway for 5 mins...

It'd be a lifer for me Dan, so yeah well worth the effort, I've got a horrible feeling I'm now going to struggle to get out again today and tomorrow due to family commitments! That's even more frustrating than being in bath! Maybe I should've stuck around bait longer and faced the wrath when I...

I must've arrived soon after you left dan, no further sightings til around midday when it flew across the sewage works and down to the north of the River, frustratingly I missed getting eyes on it. With errands to do I had to move on, I imagine when it comes in to roost will be the best time to...

Besthorpe NR- whats going on there? Went to the North bit yesterday for the first time but there was no water!? The south was okay, with some good birds; Little Egret and the massive cormorant roost.

Dave - Had a reply from Jim - "Already submitted MH to DOS, and Hobby at Crich Chase. Didn’t realise status of Yellowhammer at Wyver; that’s surprising. There were two close to but not actually using the feeder."

Two weeks away and you get some decent county birds that stuck for a while while I'm gone - no fair. Still Corsica was consolation enough :-) Not too much birding while I was away, Spotted Flycatcher nesting in the villa (most common bird there by far), Corsican Citril Finch briefly up in the...

County tick today in form of Red Kite over Dale Abbey, it drifted through my viewfinder as I was taking landscapes of the abbey ruins. Went through low, very quickly, being buffeted by the wind, had no time to change lens and get a photo though.
