    Goa, India - Pipit identification

Hi. Thanks. I too thought the same at first. My only reason for considering Richard's was that I have seen paddyfield before, and this one seemed larger with a longer tail.

Goa, India - Eurasian sparrowhawk or shikra?

Hi. I saw this raptor in flight yesterday and I was sure it was a shikra, but after looking at the photos I took later , I am now wondering if it could be a sparrowhawk. Sparrowhawk would be highly unlikely here at this time of the year. But the tail barring has me confused. Hoping someone can...

    Cuckoo in Goa, India

I'm thinking it could even be a juvenile Indian cuckoo which would explain the smaller size?

    Cuckoo in Goa, India

Thanks for all that info. I'm sure it is not a common cuckoo because of the dark eye. My difficulty is in judging the size. I know that lesser cuckoo is smaller than an Indian cuckoo, but having never seen either, I'm unable to judge whether this would be considered smaller or not. But it did...

    Cuckoo in Goa, India

Hi. I live in South Goa , India. I saw a cuckoo a few days ago and took a couple of photos. I'm having trouble identifying the exact species. I think it may be a lesser cuckoo but could also be an Indian cuckoo, both of which would be a rare find in my area. It seemed to be hiding in some tall...

    Rare cuckoo sighting in Goa

Hi. I live in South Goa in India. I saw a cuckoo today quite close to where I live, that seemed to be hiding in some tall grass in an abandoned plot of land. I have never seen one before. I'm quite new to birding and I've read that this is not a common bird here. I'm confused about what specific...
