    Car binoculars

I keep my Gen 1 Vortex DB 10x42 binoculars in the truck 100% of the time. Ive used them for birding, stargazing, and looking at deer when Im waiting in the car for whatever reason. Usually Im waiting while my wife runs into a store. They've been in my truck for about the past 7 year and they are...

    Do you use objective covers?

Same here. And when my binoculars are being used for stargazing the objective covers are also always on when not actually being looked through. Dew can be in issue sometimes and if Im switching binoculars or letting them dangle from my neck for a few minutes I use the covers.

The 'joys' of online ordering (10x40 SFLs)

Good catch. YES! Cellular, not GPS.

The 'joys' of online ordering (10x40 SFLs)

Happened to me with my pair of Pentax SP WP's. I was shipped the non WP version which is not what I had ordered. Granted the Pentax system of naming their products is really confusing. Half the time I dont even get it right. I sent them back without any issues other than more time waiting for...

    Recommendations for mid-level (US$400-600) 8x42s?

My Pentax ZD 8x43 WP (not the ED version) are made in Japan and are going for around $400 at the moment. They are my most loved and daily used pair of binoculars for both daytime and astronomy viewing.

    Monopod and binocular magnification.

All I can say on this is that I enjoy using a monopod with my 20x60 and 15x70 binoculars. I enjoy it a lot more now that I got a higher quality monopod as well. I picked up the Manfrotto X Pro and the views have been a lot more stable than with my lower end $20 monopod.

A few days with the Pentax ZD 8x43 ED

I have the standard ZD 8x43 WP and they have become my do-all pair of binoculars for both the day and nighttime skies. Love the views they give me and by far my favorite pair of binoculars that I own. I cant imaging them getting any better than they are so I can only guess at the views the ED...

    Anybody else use a monopod?

I got the Doilca G100 head. Amazon link is here but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. I believe its basically the same head that was offered from Oberwerk. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB4DFH0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Anybody else use a monopod?

I use the same Amazon monopod and pistol grip ball head mainly for stargazing with my 20x60's and occasionally with my 10x50s. Makes for a quick trip out the door when I want a little more stability than handheld but don't want to drag out the scope. That combo works for me and I've been happy...

Product Review: Vortex Diamondback HD 10 x 32.

Thanks for the review. Very informative. My only complaint with my Vortex HD 10x50 is the glare when the sun is overhead or directly in front. My understanding is its quite common at this price point though. In fact I think the first time I noticed the glare was about a year after purchasing...

    Pentax ZD 8x43 WP

FOV isn’t an issue for me either for my uses but it is for others so just wanted to call that out.

    Pentax ZD 8x43 WP

I know the 10X has a much narrower FOV than my 8X (they usually do) but Pentax seems to be more narrow than the norm. Not sure if thats an important factor for you or not. If you are looking at the ZD 10x43 that has a 6 degree FOV.

    Pentax ZD 8x43 WP

OK, so let me start off by saying I love these bins. I do not have a lot of experience with binoculars for daytime use and 90% of the time my binoculars are used for the nighttime sky. I picked these up to check out some birds out my window that were building a nest and my other Vortex roof...

    Pentax AD 8x25 WP

Good timing for this post. I am also looking at the AD 8x25 WP (or the AD 9x28 WP) for a trip to the Kentucky Derby and was looking at these just this morning. I have a few Pentax bin's and love them. My worry is the 9x28 would be a little too large to fit in a coat pocket, where the 8x25 seems...

    Pentax ZD 8x43 WP

Hi all. Just received my new pair of ZD 8x43 WP's. I was initially looking at the SD 8x42 WP due to the wider FOV, but these ZD's have made me curious for a while so I thought what the heck, what not? Obviously haven't had much time with them yet, but my 1st impressions for this simpleton when...

    First post

Hello! Just saying Hi. This is my first post here in this forum. Been active in a binocular sub forum in another site (CloudyNights) dedicated to astronomy. 90% of my binocular use is for astronomy. However, the other day I noticed there was a Robin building a nest right outside my window, so I...
