Is the Zeiss SFL 8x40 worth the difference in price over the Nikon MHG 8x42?

baloney. I looked thru the sfl and NL side by side. NL and SLC was clearly the superior glass to my eyes.

Is the Zeiss SFL 8x40 worth the difference in price over the Nikon MHG 8x42?

I bought your SFL's in '22. believe we agreed they were good but not alpha glass. SFL's were great in low light but for me lacked that wow factor. i'm spoiled by the SLC 56s.

    Birding after surgery...

prayers for your continued recovery my friend. we're both SLC fans so I appreciate your opinion. would you grab the UVHD (or EL) over the NL? interested in ur opinion of 32 UVHD vs NL. size and weight adv. of the Leica is very appealing.

    SLC 8x42: Keep or Sell?

    12X42 NL Pure resale value

most hunters i know spend 99% of their hunts observing animals and nature... sitting in a tree stand for hours will turn you into a birder trust me. ...and while your birding in America's beautiful national forests and dedicated public lands thank hunters- who through the 1937 Pittman Robertson...

    12X42 NL Pure resale value

Correct. hunters like myself aren’t gonna spend thousands on trips or leases and in the moment of truth you can’t see a target w/ cheap glass. and most hunting movement is dawn or dusk and Swarovski notoriously shines in low light. I’m looking for a good used pure 32 btw

Zeiss SFL 8x40 Rubber Coating becomes Bubbled

One thing I did not like about the SFL was the armour felt rubbery cheap. One negative I have with all zeiss binoculars.

What binocular provides your current favourite view?

agreed... something magical about the big bruisers... looking for a 32 for a lighter option. was set on NL but a lot of happiness out there w/ the Leica UVHD+s

Would you get an NL Pure 32mm if you already had a 42, or maybe something else?

last week I spent time outside with the NL 42 and 32s. both are fantastic and the views were very comparable for me. I'm looking for a lighter option to complement my SLC 56s so I'm going w/ the 32s, eventually. the SFLs are nice but a step below the NLs. stick w/ SW.

What's your favourite low light binocular, and why.

I asked this question in a thread a yr. ago? based on several recommendations from dennis, pileatus and others I purchased the SLC 8x56's. the light monsters. they're heavy but view is so wow i forget about the weight and I'm usually stationary at dusk. If I wanted smaller/lighter try the NL...

The new ZEISS SFL 30 binoculars

was amazed how small the SFL 40s felt in hand. outstanding low-light performer. clean Zeiss view but i couldn't get past the bike inner-tube-rubber coating. and it just didn't wow me like the SLC... or NL, SF but it is half the price of these 2. solid mid-range bino. alpha for me, close but...

Biggest eyepiece ocular lens - is there bigger than swarovski SLC 8x56 ?

56s are heavy but what a view... I call 'em the light monsters.
  19. ragin-cajun

    No rubber covering wanted.

I can't get past the synthetic tire-rubber feel of the Zeiss to enjoy the optics.

    So I took the plunge...

following. i'm torn between the NL32/42. looking forward to reading your findings. chuck: can you post a pic of how you're attaching the RYUL harness to your NLs. thx

Zeiss SFL 10x40: A Field Review

my 2 cents after spending time w/ the SFL40. nice glass w/ good colors. they shine at dusk. FOV was ok. was surprised how small they felt in hand.. but there are better glass options available.... the SLC (or SF or NLs) have much better edge-to-edge views imo. my-no-experience w/ binos-wife...

New Trinovid 8x40 VS Zeiss SFL 8x40

I've spent time w/ the SFL 40. nice glass w/ good colors. they shine at dusk. FOV was ok. was surprised how small they felt in hand but they're sub alpha.. general view out of the SLC (or SF or NLs) are just much better imo. made my-no-experience w/ binos-wife try the SFL and SLCs and she...

    new binocular wishes 2023

I’d like to give them a test drive but they don’t sell them in the USA and the armour doesn’t look as rugged as SLC
