What's the best way to attach the strap and the rainguard to Nikon Monarch M7?

I use a separate, thin, 1mm nylon cord to tether the rainguard to bin loop, independent of the bin strap. No binding, rainguard hangs down freely, and completely out of your face.

    binocular ad/review mistake

The guy’s probably an actor hired by the marketing folks who shot this video. Can’t blame him for lack of product knowledge. Otherwise, great MIJ bins. I have this exact pair.

Opinion on low cost spotting scopes =

I recently developed a new floater in my eye and I thought I was having vision problems when I notice the snowflakes. I like them.

    open bridge binoculars

Just picked up Sightron 832’s the other day, specifically for long hikes and maybe, backpacking. Amazing pair for the price.

Which of your binoculars are the most "delicious" ones?

    Anything under $500

    Most unusual use for binoculars?

I use them to see if my garden hose is discharging gray water to irrigate my bamboo grove way down at the corner of my back yard.

How to carry heavy binoculars in the field and on long hikes

Hi, that setup gives me just enough slack to be able to point the bins up to zenith and pan my head about 45 degrees in either direction. I found those nylon and leather bits on Amazon. I replaced the plastic quick connect bits with rings.

How to carry heavy binoculars in the field and on long hikes

Found a more secure spot to latch the S-biners. Hiked 8 miles on Sunday, very comfortable. I really like this setup now.

How to carry heavy binoculars in the field and on long hikes

Thanks for that idea! I hiked a few miles with this setup and I liked it. The orange loops on the shoulder straps may break eventually but I’ll figure something out. The wide neck strap dangling on my chest was not an issue at all…. for now…

What tripod for Opticron MM4 60 Travelscope

The Wild series are available in 3 and 4 leg sections, and in alu or carbon. The Benro website showed them as discontinued a few weeks ago but they are still currently available on Amazon where I got mine. Although the panning and tilt functions are very fluid, the tilt function does not...

What tripod for Opticron MM4 60 Travelscope

I have the Benro Wild tripod and head, TWD18A BWH4. Aluminum legs, carbon center column with hook. I paid about $160 last year. I use it with my Pentax 65mm scope but also handles my Pentax 80mm quite well.

    Kowa 883 vs 553

I don’t like hiking with heavy weights and/or bulk either so I use a monopod with my 65mm straight scope and keep my magnification under 30x.

    Another budget scope request

I would also look at SVbony if I were in your situation. I don’t have their scope but I have their eyepieces. For the prices they’re not junk optics as some people perceive them to be.

    Pentax xw 3.5mm phone adapter?

I had better results by simply hand holding my phone up to my XW‘s. The couple or three phone adapters I tried didn’t work well or at all due to the size and shape of the eye cup.

    Wear and tear...

Not a pro, but I went over all the exposed brass areas of my F bodies and prism finders with a black sharpie before listing them on Ebay some years back.

Kowa 883 - best arca swiss plate?

Not Kowa, but on my Pentax I use both 1/4” and 3/8” screws to attach the plate. Scope’s base has two separate mounting holes, maybe 3/4” apart, and I take advantage of both to secure my ArcaSwiss plate

Curious about the Baader Mk IV…..Does it reach focus on your Pentax?

Spotting scopes for use with 1.25" eyepieces?

That’s too bad Pentax is not available where you’re at. The scope comes with a solid, 1.25” twist collar mount, no EP adapter required. I have both the angled and straight scopes. And at bargain prices, IMO, here in the US. All my EP’s…..Explore Scientifics, Pentax XWs, Celestrons, and...

Celestron X-Cel’LX 7mm saves the day!

I’m assuming your HB scope accepts standard 1.25” astro eyepieces….. ?…. in other words, they simply slide in and secured in place.

Celestron X-Cel’LX 7mm saves the day!

Speaking of cheap, I have a couple of SvBony eyepieces that work well with my spotters. Not bad at $35, this one is a clone of the Orion Expanse eyepiece. Good eye relief too.

Celestron X-Cel’LX 7mm saves the day!

Well, with my ES 82 eyepieces, I can see the field stops, even with the ones with short eye relief. I don’t wear glasses, btw. But for pure viewing comfort I prefer my Pentax XW’s a lot better with their large eye lens and eye relief.

Celestron X-Cel’LX 7mm saves the day!

You picked up a good eyepiece. Nice to see it’s working well with your scope with good AFOV. Celestron also has their Luminos line of eyepieces with wide, 82* AFOV but don’t seem to be very popular amongst the CN crowd. I have a few Explore Scientific 68* & 82* eyepieces which I use on my...
