    Waxwings limited edition prints

You're clearly an accomplished painter of birds Ian. I just had a look at your website which has some lovely pieces :t: (I did notice a technical thingy there on your site so I'm going to message you about that)

    Pencil advice and Redwing sketch.

By way of an example: If you were drawing to provide means of identification you would use a relatively untextured paper, perhaps quite heavy if it is going to be referenced often, and preferably an acid free paper if you want it to last. The pencils if you were to stick with pencils, could be...

    Pencil advice and Redwing sketch.

As jape suggests yours is a proper drawing. And your medium is a matter of taste and application. Consider are your drawings or sketches to be works in themselves or are they preparatory work for finished studio drawings or paintings. Are they for illustration and if so is that for bird...

I was reading the help documents and thought I should be able to add a signature after 5 days and 10 posts. Have I got that wrong?

    Perigrine Nottingham City Nesting Sites?

Can anyone advise if peregrines are nesting anywhere other than the Nottingham Trent University Newton Building in Nottingham city? I've seen them hunting in the sky around the QMC and on University of Nottingham University Park campus and wondered if they nested on any of the high buildings...

    North American Woodpeckers

Thanks nartreb, some great stuff there. Nice to have more knowledge :t: Also, I see you have lots of great photography at your website. I wonder what camera(s) you use?

    North American Woodpeckers

The Flicker really is very much like the green woodpecker like you say. I wonder if some North American woodpeckers show similar evolutionary characteristics... Specifically around diet and feeding. I'm not sure how recent recording of their behaviour eating chicks actually is in the first...

    Roll over title font

There are probably several style plugins for Chrome should anyone else stumble across this kind of problem. These vBulletin forums are not the most accessible (awful on a phone) so that setting CSS per site can be a great help for the less dextrous or visually impaired. Just post for a how to...

    One Drive?

If you are going to try and regain access to an account and you are suspicious of a communication best thing to do is go directly to the source ie. Microsoft in this case, and open a fresh dialogue with them. Side step the email completely. Don't lift anything like a URL from the email in case...

    What's App/Google Drive

What it means is you can store a copy of your WhatsApp dialogue in Google's Drive (cloud storage) but in that location it will not be protected or encrypted by WhatsApp's native algorithms. Thus, depending on Google's Drive policy the data might or might not at best, be parsed for anonymous user...

    Blooking Microsoft!!!!

Ah gee, platform updates you gotta love 'em |^| When I need to do those, I shut off or change the computer's energy saving settings and set it to update... then go do something else - Like cook or drink or even sleep if it's an epic update....

    Cross species "argument"?

In what way did it react? It is not uncommon for birds, or in fact any number of animals to react to the calls of others not their own...

    Red Grouse in Peak District

...That's off the A5004 marked to Long Hill out of Buxton then eventually sign posted for Goyt Valley (only inconspicuous signage) forking left several miles out of town.

    Red Grouse in Peak District

All the recommendations for moorland sites have Red Grouse. James_Owen mentions Ring Ouzel - I think the Goyt Valley near Buxton is the place for those...

    lapwing carving.

Nice work there. I love this style oddly I think of this as in the decoy genre which I happen to love but not something many of us here like for their original purpose? Anyway, lovely work :t:

    North American Woodpeckers

I was looking for information regarding the feeding habits of Woodpeckers in the US and Canada - in particular how they compare to European species. I'd imagined they behave similarly but on one point I couldn't find records to support my assumption. My question to be specific and to cut a long...

    Hello from... Midlands UK

Hi, I'm resident in UK and been interested in birds since the 1970s. I lived in Illinois briefly in the late 1980s while studying art and was fascinated by the birds on my travels St Louis up to St. Paul and across to Seattle. The similarities and some profound differences to our European birds...
