a few pics from the recent trip to Mallorca. The Balearic Warbler views were to die for! As were those of the Tawny Pipit.

Didn't go to that coastal path till this morning (early). I took the number 3 route from the Son Real finca to the necropolis. It was a fantastic walk. Tons of flycatchers, shrikes, hoopoes and finches. Not far after the end of the farm wall, where the farmstead gives way to the paths through...

I tried for Moltoni's at Cuber but we were there in the full glare of the sun and knackered so I didn't give it enough of a try. I guess this is the only reliable site?

    Mallorca 2023

I've only had one (distant) view of Eleonora's Falcon and am wondering about the best place (away from Cap de Formentor) to see these well. I saw the Kent bird last(?) year and have seen them well in Lanzarote and France, but it would be good to connect with them in what is a supposed stronghold.

    Mallorca 2023

So despite this categorically NOT being a birding trip, I've done pretty well so far: 80 identified species, two birds that sounded exactly like Goldcrests (but that's mega unlikely right now) and fantastic views of the two species that were "lifers" for me: the med flycatcher and the balearic...

Looking forward to the trip to Mallorca next week. Quick question (possibly one of a number!): the crested-type larks in Mallorca: are they all Thekla's?

Thanks again - is the depuradora you're talking about the one that's known as EDAR platja de muro: there seem to be five lagoons there.

    Mallorca 2023

V helpful thank you! Well, I am not in Mallorca till the penultimate week of August so we'll see. And the island is small enough, of course, to get around so I am happy to travel about a bit to get to the odd better site for various things. Will search for Balearic Warbler hotspot info and come...

    Mallorca 2023

Hello all - was put onto this discussion by Shaun Ferguson and am very grateful. Have been lurking for a few days, but am now revealing myself: I am coming for a family holiday 19-26 August, and we will be staying in Muro, which I believe is very close to the S'Albufera reserve. Although I am...

Is this the right forum for Birding Trips advice? In which case, S France, January!

Apologies if I'm not using the right forum - please redirect me if that's so. A friend of mine and I are heading to S France at the very beginning of 2018. Two things: one, it would be great to know if there are any local guides who might take us to good spots and save valuable time; two, and...

    Hello from SW Cambridgeshire

I've been birding since June 2010, and addicted to it since, well, June 2010. I have become obsessed particularly in the year 2016 onwards, since it was such a stellar year for great rare avian visitors to Britain. Don't like birding on my own, so I am often with a couple of friends from Cambs...
