    Tough raptor, NSW, Australia

Thank you both. It was the seemingly long, deep-drooping body and long neck/head in pics 4 and 5 that made me wonder about Sea Eagle but I bow to your greater knowledge and as always appreciate your all round experience even with such poor photos.

    Tough raptor, NSW, Australia

All I saw and managed a few seconds of video. Palm Beach north of Sydney on 5 February. I am wondering about White-bellied Sea eagle. Any help much appreciated.

    Mystery Thornbill, NSW, Australia

Sorry, pressed 'reply' by mistake. Looking back at the original video there are striations which must be blurred out in the stills. Lack of white stripe above eye also turned me away from Striated.

    Mystery Thornbill, NSW, Australia

Thank you both. I originally thought striated but then some shots don't even show striations! So, Brown then.

    A shadowy challenge, NSW, Australia

Thank you both for your input. I think the White-cheeked is favourite due to the size of the white patch. The white tail tips also guided me to the two species of honeyeater that we have considered.

    Mystery Thornbill, NSW, Australia

Taken on 4 February round Narrabeen Lagoon, north of Sydney. Awful stills from holiday video, probably at 90x zoom! All the same bird.....but what bird? Any help greatly appreciated.

    A shadowy challenge, NSW, Australia

Seen around Narrabeen Lagoon 0n 4/2/24, this is all I saw! I present the original version and a second version with contrast dialled right down and brightness up a bit. I suspect White-cheeked Honeyeater. Any thoughts?

Not many locals around at the time unfortunately but glad it's not just me that finds it hard to id these 'crows' as everyone in the family over there calls them!

    Which corvid? Sydney, Australia

Thanks Larry. I wonder if it is a young one then. Here is an Australian Raven in Sydney too, alongside the other one.....seems longer overall and maybe longer hackles.

    Mystery Butcherbird, Western Australia

Thanks to Butty for all your help earlier on this one. I have been having a good look around various sites to find a butcherbird like the one in my photos, but in vain. Can anyone new give any thoughts before I record it as 'unconfirmed Pied Butcherbird'?

    Young Eastern Osprey, Australia?

I think you are persuading me! Certainly the face is what drew me to the kite originally.
