    Sparrow, Eastern Townships, Quebec.

Thank you. We were watching a distant feeder from a road. It was pretty windy last Sunday and the birds kept hiding in the bushes, making only brief appearances at feeders. The House Sparrow seemed odd, compared to these, taken last month, whch are much more obvious. And the Tree Sparrow, was...

Comment by 'Plectrophane' in media 'Cooper's Hawk eating moss?'

Actually it's a Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis). This is an immature bird, that's why his tail is heavily barred and lacks the red. If it were an adult, we could assume that he's gathering moss to use as a lining inside the nest. In this case, maybe your explaination about cleaning his beal...

  14. Plectrophane

Hybrid or leucistic bird, Burbank pond, Danville, Quebec.

We found this bird yesterday, among about 1000 Snow Geese and 2000 Canada Geese. To me, this me looks like a leusistic pure canada goose. But some birder who were with me are convinced it's a hybrid Branta canadensis X Anser caerulescens. What do you think?

    Lesser Yellowlegs... ...Leopard Frog

Petit Chevalier This frog escaped several times and hopped away from the bird who recaught it every time. Would have made a very entertaining video.

  22. Plectrophane

    Warblers, southern Quebec.

Many different species passing in the area these days. including Bay-breasted Walbler. I think this is one of them but have some doubt. The second one is a Magnolia , I'm pretty sure. Some are relativeley easy to ID. It's far from easy to take any good photos.
