North Lincolnshire UK. April 2024. My wife spotted a goose flying into trees from quite a distance. I was a little skeptical but sure enough a perched goose bottom, high in a Scots pine. Aware this is not uncommon in Canada geese in Canada and there have been reports of greylag perching in trees. Wasn’t sure the type of goose from this image. Any thoughts.

Hi. Going by the prominent white edges to the feathers - lacking in a Canada - and dull, brown colouring, could be a Greylag?

I don't often see geese from that angle, but it's definitely not a Canada. Tail color all wrong.

The only goose that I’ve ever seen in a tree is an Egyptian!

Greylag goose.
Occasionally nesting has been reported in raptors nests or in pollard willows ...

but by far less common than in Egyptian goose (which is a duck , actually)...
