27cm. Purple/blue wide band around neck, dark purple abdomen to undertail coverts, soft purple scapulars tipped in black, red greater wing coverts and flight feathers with wide black tips, red underwing coverts and undersides of flight feathers, with black tips on primaries, tail purple/red, bill orange/brown, eye orange.

Eos squamata riciniata N Moluccas and Widi I.

Eos squamata obiensis N Moluccas (Obi and Bisa)

Eos squamata squamata W Papuan islands and Schildpad I.

Moist lowland forests and mangrove forests.
