27-32 cm. Brown upperparts, grey chest, buff belly, barred back and wings, rosy-red legs.

French Guiana, Guyana and Suriname, Colombia, Venezuela and north-east Brazil
[edit] Taxonomy
There are seven subspecies:[1]
Some of these subspecies have been viewed as full species in the past, and it is uncertain that this treatment is the final word; see SACC[2] for a discussion.

Dry forest and shrubland.
[edit] Behaviour
Its diet includes seeds, berries, snails and insects.
Its eggs are grey-lavender, suffused with pink.
