Also known as Red-crowned Parakeet (for example, by Gill and Wright (2006) and Howard and Moore (2003)). Our use of New Caledonian Parakeet follows Clements (2007) as a descriptive name that avoids confusion with the two other species sometimes known as Red-crowned Parakeet (C. novaezelandiae and Pyrrhura roseifrons).
