Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal, India, eastern and western Himalayas, Bangladesh, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Indonesia, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra, Java and Bali
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 10 subspecies[1]:
- A. s. flaviventris: Central Nepal to Sikkim, Bhutan, north-eastern India and Bangladesh
- A. s. superciliaris: Southern China (Yunnan) to Myanmar, western Thailand and north-western Laos
- A. s. drasticus: North-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh) to northern Myanmar; winters south-western Thailand
- A. s. smythiesi: Myanmar (central Irrawaddy basin from Pakokkuu to Prome)
- A. s. euthymus: North and central Vietnam
- A. s. bambusarum: Peninsular Thailand (Isthmus of Kra to Phangnga)
- A. s. sakaiorum: Malay Peninsula (southern Thailand to Negeri Sembilan)
- A. s. papilio: Sumatra
- A. s. schwaneri: Borneo
- A. s. vordermani: Java
Habitat
In undergrowth of temperate or moist lowland forests and moist montanes, particularly streamside bamboos.
Behaviour
Diet
Tiny insects such as spiders, flies and mosquitoes.
