ViewsPink-tailed BuntingFrom Opus
Aka Pink-tailed Rosefinch, Przewalski's Finch or Przewalski's Rosefinch
[edit] IdentificationLong tail, bright pink throat, breast and belly, brown streaked back and wings. [edit] DistributionCentral-west China at altitudes of 3050 m to 5000 m. [edit] TaxonomyIts taxonomic affinities were unclear for a long time. Using molecular evidence, Groth (2000) proposed that it should in fact be regarded as the only member of the family Urocynchramidae, (something that had been originally proposed in the German ornithological literature as long ago as 1918 by Domaniewski, and also by Wolters in 1979) and this change was adopted by Clements (2007). [edit] HabitatAlpine scrub at altitudes of 3050 m to 5000 m. [edit] BehaviourBiology and breeding ecology poorly known. [edit] ReferencesClements, JF (2007).
