Identification
30 cm. Brown, long, curved, black bill. Adult male: distinctive chestnut-brown head, grey breast, brown back, double spur. Female: lighter, and lacks grey breast; single spur. Iris - light brown; bill - grey; feet - yellow.
Distribution
From Burma east over southern Thailand and the Malaysian Peninsula to Sumatra and Borneo.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Hose's Partridge was formerly included in this species.
Habitat
Forest on limestone hills.
