    Rockies in September

    I am travelling by car in mid-late September from Calgary through the Rockies - Banff and Jasper - and then across to Saskatoon. I am sure there are things to see wherever we go but does anyone have any suggestions of particular places to visit or places to stay.

    Hi I am off to Torres del Paine and Antarctica in February. I have Helm Guide to Birds of Chile which includes Antarctica. Would like a second guide particularly on Antarctica - possibly including mammals ect. Any recommendations? Zarac

    What time of the year?

    I've just come back from Peru - left just before the earthquake. Went to Atacama desert (where the earthquake hit), ocean, Amamzon basin and high Andes where we did the Inca Trail. Saw wonderful birds - over 300 species. I am no expert but all the organised trips seem to go July to September...

    Herring gulls - Hated or loved?

    I'm a fan of the Herring Gulls which co-inhabit my seaside town. When I'm talking on the phone people can hear them and comment on how nice it is to hear the sounds of the seaside. Some people complain they are responsible for rubbish on the street because they open the black rubbish bags left...
