Breeding Behaviour of Chihuhuan Ravens in South East Arizona

I retired in SE Arizona which is an amazing place for birding. I was hoping I might see an occasional Chihuahuan Raven as opposed to the more Common Ravens in the area. Turns out Chihuhuan Ravens are a yard bird for me! But the big puzzle is this one. This is the 2nd season I am here in the...

    Unusual songbird in Baja California

Excellent suggestion The black crown is the puzzle. If you look at Hooded Oriole it fits well for young male but the black is usually restricted to the throat and around the eyes.

    Unusual songbird in Baja California

This looks a bit like an oriole but has me puzzled! It was filmed in Baja California. Would it be some sort of avicultural exotic? Any suggestions?

    Exotic escaped Waxbill in California?

I had this photo passed on to me by a local person here in Marin County California. It reminds me of the African waxbills but perhaps its just an oddly colored local species. Any suggestions? Definitely a mystery to me anyway. Thanks very much

    Greece birding mountains and beaches

Am I asking too much here I wonder. Will be in Greece soon and hoping to learn from others where I might do a bit of beach relaxation but also be within reasonable distance to mountains and other spots for birding. Would love to see Blue Rock Thrush and Black Woodpecker for example. Tips from...

Oddity strange coloration Lake Tahoe California

Sorry about this one but this gal had snapped only one pic of the bird. Based on some great assessments I am inclined to focus on Leucistic Brewers Blackbird as well.

Oddity strange coloration Lake Tahoe California

Simply that I interacted with the photographer who summers at Lake Tahoe and she is legit. Sometimes doubting everything can be overkill when it comes to critical thinking.

Oddity strange coloration Lake Tahoe California

This bird was filmed in a settled location in Lake Tahoe California. The lady that filmed it gave me very little information. I suspect it is a leucistic or specimen with abnormal melanin in its plumage. This should be a fun mystery for others. It has me scratching my head and I know birds...

thanks Dick. Princess are such gorgeous birds arent they? I dreamed of seeing them in the wild for over 20 years before I actually spotted them in the Gibson Desert.

    Princess Parrot flock

A wild flock of Princess Parrots, the gems of the outback filmed west of Alice Springs on the Gary Junction Rd in the remote Gibson Desert. Swift flyers and stunning birds perched in a casuarina tree.
