    Lizard ID? UK

This lizard was seen on Shoreham beach, UK. I managed to take a picture though a pair of binoculars and a chain link fence. Should be an easy ID? Thanks

    Swarovski eye candy...

Anything specific, or was the view generally underwhelming? I’ve only tried a 95mm version.

Having 2 pairs of binoculars. Which would you choose?

I’m down to two binoculars at the moment. Perhaps they’re not the combo I would choose, but it’s what I’m working with. The NL 12x42 is good for pretty much everything, but I sometimes play around with a massive two year old Pentax 20x60. Been meaning to sell the Pentax for a while, but I’m...

Companion pair to NL pure 12x42

I'm in the same situation, and have generally imagined myself buying another NL in 10x32. The part of my brain that wants to try something new is battling the part that says the NLs are about as good as could be expected, so why not just buy another?

I've only seen these birds once, at a reserve in Scotland. Lovely!

Leica APO Televid 82 - first impressions

Yes, the hood rotates. That makes angled viewing easier, and i rarely keep it perfectly straight.

Leica APO Televid 82 - first impressions

I’d still love to do a side by side comparison with all three. Maybe one day!

    Swarovski eye candy...

The look of those orange NLs is growing on me. I can't quite justify getting an orange 10x32 to go alongside the 12x42, but maybe one day.

UK binocular deals, special offers and bargains

For anyone who has £4400 to spare (I'll have to check down the back of my sofa cushions), the Zeiss 20x60 are down from £5700. https://www.parkcameras.com/shop/zeiss-20x60-image-stabilised-binocular-open-box_9777600kob

    Binoculars w/ Glasses

This might be over the stated budget, but the NL Pure works fantastically well with glasses, in my experience. That was one of the main reasons I got them.

New Swarovski product announcement in January 2024...?

How about a second generation BTX module with adjustable zoom function? That would be cool to use at less than 30x, and at other mags without the extender.

Leica APO Televid 82 - first impressions

I recently upgraded my spotting scope to a Leica APO Televid 82. I found a good deal on a used model online, and despite my conviction to wait until I’d had a chance to try it, I upgraded on the spur of the moment. Not the wisest move, for sure, but I felt like taking a risk. For the last year...

ME 1.7x Converter - Image Quality

Yeah, the Leica extender's potential performance is concerning. My plan is to find one in a shop, bring my scope, and ask to try it out first. If the drawbacks are obvious, I might rethink my options.

Why do Leicas have more CA than Swarovski or Zeiss?

I've been using Leica for the first time this autumn, after replacing my Vortex Razor scope with a new APO Televid. Moving from the Razor to the Televid has vastly reduced the CA in my spotting scope experience, but a very slight effect is still there. I didn't see any CA when I first used the...

ME 1.7x Converter - Image Quality

I'm considering getting the 1.8x extender for my Leica APO Televid. I'm curious to see how dark that gets in comparison with the Swarovski. The Leica is only 82mm, so it'll probably be rather noticeable. I expect that a ATX 115mm objective would be most forgiving for brightness retention.
