    Feather, Northants UK

Think I've found it - Grey Heron. Looks like one of the birds from the fishing lake near us got interested in our pond (wouldn't have been the first time). Must have been disappointed to find the mesh covering it.

Bit unsure about this one, found in garden today. Anyone?

    Dead bird, Northamptonshire UK

Thanks, that's what I thought, I was a little confused as it's in the middle of a town!

    Gull, Tyne and Wear, UK

Sorry - not my usual area - used to be when it was Tyne and Wear in the 80s but we were only up there for a funeral. Near Souter Lighthouse anyway!

    Gull, Tyne and Wear, UK

Another equally bad image (it was stamping on the floor to attract worms)

    Gull, Tyne and Wear, UK

Hello all, firstly apologies for the terrible cameraphone picture, and secondly apologies for posting something that is probably very obvious, but like a lot of casual birders, I'm really not good with gulls... Saw this one yesterday evening, and was struck by a few things (a) looked bigger and...

    Red Kite

1 x Red Kite over Newton on 26th, 27th, 29th May 2 x Red Kite on 30th. Also 2 x over Clifton on Dunsmore on 31st and 1 x today. Perhaps a little late for nesting this year, but I'd hope for it next year, ideal type of countryside,

    Poor blurry photo, Warwickshire UK

Have been sent another photo today (can't post it the moment, on phone) which is definitely a Mistle Thrush. Thanks all, nice to know I got one right for once :)

    Poor blurry photo, Warwickshire UK

Thanks, I didn't consider Fieldfare because of the urban location, but it certainly looks more like one than my original idea!

    Poor blurry photo, Warwickshire UK

A friend sent me this, all they could tell me was that it was "about twice as big as a blackbird". I'm guessing it's a mistle thrush though it looks a bit odd?

    unknown raptor cleveland?

"Barn owl size" though? If it wasn't for the "hawk like beak" I'd have said Lapwing

    Northants Red Kites spreading out?

For the last few weeks I have seen one, two or (today) three Kites daily on my commute to and from work, on the A6 between Burton Latimer wind farm and the A14. It's been at least a week since I didn't see one. Given that this location is around 15 miles south from Rockingham, it looks like...

2 x UID LBJ, Warwickshire First one unfortunately wouldn't allow me to shoot him/her from any other position than directly below ... blackcap, possibly? Second one ... willow warbler?

    UID song, Northants UK

.. which is exactly what I assumed it was (or a starling) until the canal boat flushed it. Ah well, one of those we'll never know I suppose.
