Australian field guides - a bit of a review.

I have used S&D for several years, spending weeks, and sometimes months, in the outback etc.. The book stays with my vehicle, and is used to check my identification of species when I return to my camp. If you can't identify a species using this book you probably won't identify it at all...

    A month in Australia

What all this means is that Australia is a pretty good bird place, but be aware that it is BIG, and takes a lot of time to get around if you want to see birds. Something will be seen almost anywhere you go, but really you need to spend time in the bush, quietly wandering around. A lot of...

    Visit to Sulawesi

In May 2011 I am going to North Sulawesi, where I will be filming birds and whatever wildlife I can find. Am going for four weeks. I would be interested in meeting up with anyone else who will be in that area at this time and is interested in sharing the costs of such items as car hire etc. I...

    chicken feed

No doubt some species will take chicken feed, especially ground species. For others try soaked dog biscuits. Be sure to only feed small amounts and clean up anything not eaten. Bad idea to get your birds too dependant on the food you provide, but a small amount each day will not do much...

    Sulawesi information

Thanks Rob I am thinking of spending at least 3 weeks, and want to film wildlife, especially birds. Don't know anything about Sulawesi, but it sounds like a good place for me. Would arrive by air, and go where I can find birds to film. Is it difficult to get around? As far as...

    A month in Australia

Bird places in Australia If you travel inland a bit and go to Inverell,NSW., you could visit the Inverell lake and see a variety of species. Only a short distance away is Copeton Dam. On the opposite side of the dam from the official camping reserve there is a good bird area, where you can...

Has anyone been to Sulawesi lately? If you have any info about accommodation in smaller villages and towns, or on travel, I would be very interested.
