    Lesser Whitethroat or Common?

It's a tricky one, can be difficult with photographs. I know from ringing these birds, like with Chiffchaff & Willow Warbler that leg colour isn't always a sure way to id them. I've looked again and still not certain.

    Great tits have disappeared

Hi Jacqui, if you can get access to the box have a quick look inside, you won't bother the birds if they are still in there. If they have fledged then just because you don't see them doesn't mean that they haven't survived, birds follow the food, so they can move out of the area quickly if not...

    Lesser Whitethroat or Common?

Lesser Whitethroat I Think this is a Lesser Whitethroat, it's a more delicate looking bird and its chest and belly are far too pale for a Common Whitethroat. We get these on the reserve where i work, 99% sure.

Winter in Barcelona - A challenge for 100 species in a day

Winter in Barcelona Hi Stephen, sounds like a great day, it's nice to hear that someone actually likes watching birds rather than just counting numbers. But setting a challenge like this sounds like fun every now and then, I think i'd be hard pushed to get 100 birds where I live but the area...

what was your bird of the day ?

I arrived at Hardwick Park (near Chesterfield, Derbyshire) just before the sun came up this morning, the ponds were frozen over and a low lying mist covered surrounding fields. It was a picture postcard scene. After about an hour I sat down for a much needed coffee, not just to quench my thirst...
