    Tree goose

North Lincolnshire UK. April 2024. My wife spotted a goose flying into trees from quite a distance. I was a little skeptical but sure enough a perched goose bottom, high in a Scots pine. Aware this is not uncommon in Canada geese in Canada and there have been reports of greylag perching in...

Northern Gannet. Note the characteristic ‘black eye’ of a bird that has probably survived avian flu.

Stunning bird, thanks for posting. Interesting kit combo. I use the 7D mk ii + CANON 300mm 2.8 mkii +/- the x1.4. You are shooting at an equivalent of 672 mm with the cropped sensor. How do you find that combo in low light.

Bird of prey over my garden in Sevenoaks, Kent UK

Just assumed the bard was refering to a red kite. Didn’t occur to me they may have been black kites. Is this a long standing debate in the birding world?

Shakespeare refers to red kites and crows on the streets of London. The kites fed on discarded food like gulls at a rubbish tip. They also snatched linen from washing lines as bedding for the nests. The chihuahua is safe but your Y-fronts are in imminent peril 😂
