    Warbler - Crete - April 2018

I photographed this warbler near the mouth of a stream in Northern Crete in mid April this year. My provisional view was a moustached warbler but as it would be a lifer, I would appreciate any confirmation or alternative views on ID. Thanks Mike

Tingaki 2012 I'm glad to hear that you both had succesful holidays and a bit jealous that you both had roller. I have attached a few wildlife shots which I took whilst at Tingaki.

    Birding in Kos

Just got back today after 10 days in Tingaki. I struggled to get a lengthy list of species and doubt whether I topped 40. However, I seemed to pick up 1 or 2 new species each day. Zitting cisticolla, house sparrows, crested lark, turtle dove and hooded crows were the commonest birds I...

    SX40 Super Zoom

Your photoraphs are very impressive and I particularly like the night heron shot. My decision to opt for the SX40 was influenced by the positive feedback from bird forum users and the lack of feed back from P510 owners at the time. I am very pleased with the results I have obtained from the...

    SX40 Super Zoom

I compared the Canon SX40 and the Nikon P510 head to head at a local store at full zoom. The P510 was smaller and easier in the hand. The additional zoom power of the P510 was suprisingly apparent in the few test shots I took. I could not judge image quality based on looking at the lcd screen...

    SX40 Super Zoom

I posted these query on the Nikon forum but have yet to recieve a response. I wonder if any SX40 users have had the oppurtunity of comparing the two cameras or perhaps can advance a case for choosing the SX40? "I am in the market for a "mega zoom" bridge camera and am struggling to decide...

    Nikon coolpix P510

I am in the market for a "mega zoom" bridge camera and am struggling to decide between the Nikon P510 and the Canon SX40. Factors like size, gps, battery life, number of features etc are not deal clinchers for me (although I do like the look of the P510's easy panarama function) I am...

    KOS -PSALIDI and TIGAKI - 16th -23RD JUNE 2010

TIGAKI The Alykes salt lake lies to the west of Tigaki and is the most popular birding spot on Kos. This shallow lake is probably about a kilometre in diameter and is accessed via a dirt track on its northen shore. There is a small stream leading from the lake which provides an out-flow into...

    KOS -PSALIDI and TIGAKI - 16th -23RD JUNE 2010

I have been lucky enough to see scops at the police station in Puerto Pollensa and the school yard in Skalla Kalloni. However, these were loacations that were well known and nothing beats finding the bird for yourself. I hope you had a good trip to "sunny" Wales for your mamora's tick. Mike

    KOS -PSALIDI and TIGAKI - 16th -23RD JUNE 2010

Thank you wolfbirder. I had waited many years to finally spot one and it was more than worth the wait. I will add the Tigaki part of my report in the next day or so. Mike
