    Wyver Lane Nature Reserve (DWT)

A shame about the lapwings, a long time has passed since I visited the reserve or anywhere else, I remember the numbers being really good there.

    Cromford Canal, Derbyshire

Had a chance to visit to the canal today. Fairly quiet though heard Chiffchaff, green and g.spot woodpecker around 4 grey wags at high peak around the shop area and 3 pairs of little grebe too.

    Cromford Canal, Derbyshire

Nice vole Steph. Not been up for the canal for a long while. The last two times we went we got good views towards the derwent hotel end, its the area where the canal widens and has all the reeds and then narrows under a bridge.

Some more pics The bird in the set of 2 pics was photographed before the other one in question. Not sure if the bottom left bird in the set of 5 is the same bird. There were 3 males that I counted in the flock

Thanks for having a look Steph, I have other pics which I will sort at as soon as I can. Jane mentioned sound on the id thread, I need to listen to calls for parrot and common to compare. Dad sends his best wishes too :t:

Thanks for the comments everyone, it is only the top right bird which raised a discussion. As for sound, I will need to listen to calls of parrot and common to compare. I have other pics which I will sort out and post as soon as I can.
