Hi Minty, Uni is public, so people wander all over. Lots of people bird around the uni, particularly the Hes East campus. The tilmire, behind the uni is rarely watched, and can hold some good birds. Also Askham Bog YWT is very easy to get to, can be ok for birds (treecreeper, redpolls, marsh... -

There are several decent sites around York (certainly where you could boost you're life list), try the university, particularly the lake on the Hes East campus. Goldcrest are migrating at the moment so are popping up anywhere and everywhere, learning the call (from RSPB or xeno-canto websites)... -

Please bare in mind that Skipwith is a sensitive site with several scarce ground nesting species plus other sensitive wildlife under immense pressure from dog walkers and etc. It will be very difficult to find woodlark at this time of year, but please don't be tempted to go off the paths... -

No it's awful. And the views are rubbish cos ywt still haven't repaired swantail, and the water is miles off Tower hide.
