    Yes Phil, from East Hide yesterday morning - wigeon with 36 shoveler. Two drake & one female pochard, also 25 (common) snipe in the margins. Cheers Stu - not Steve - don't worry, I've been called worse :-O

    Just heard a small flock of pink-footed geese go over Bournville about 9:30pm. I almost thought it was some weird sound effect on that Han Solo film I was watching at the time!

    Bittell Reservoirs and Hopwood area

    Yes, in Jan 95 where it spent a couple of days with a RT Diver. Prior to that, the previous county record was in 1985. The 1980 Bittell bird was the first since 1962 so quite a scarce bird in Worcs. Seems to be much more regular in Staffs & Warks, I guess having a few more larger reservoirs helps.

    Just checked a few old WMBC annual reports, last one at Bittell was 1980! Prior to one briefly at Grimley last January, the last Worcs record was 1995. I reckon a few people added it to their county lists today.

    Black Throated Diver currently showing well on lower bittell from causeway, really close in too.

    GWE still on lower this morning, fishing along the west side. Also about 15 Pochard on upper and still about 250 Mallard, 100 Teal & 50 Wigeon up there. 21 Golden Plover flew around for a few mins before departing NE and a Woodcock flew over the Mill Shrub area.

    Cattle Egret in Bodymoor Heath early this afternoon, in field with cows (naturally) north of Bodymoor Heath Road, just west of the canal.

    Good numbers of wildfowl on Upper Bittell at the moment. As the water level slowly creeps up, the flooded margins are pulling in about 200 mallard, 100 teal, 50 wigeon, 20 shoveler and best of all 3 drake pintail.     Bartley reservoir

    3 distant ducks this morning turned out to be Pintails, 2 drakes & a female. Sadly flew off high south at 10:30 following the appearance of two paddle boarders. What is presumably the same Green Sandpiper I first saw in late September is still hanging on at the southern end.

    Kings Norton Nature Reserve

    Just one male Goosander on Merecroft today, plus male Shoveler, the Little Grebe and a Green Woodpecker. A Kingfisher was seen zooming downriver by Popes Lane, two Water Rails in the marsh, two Reed Buntings & a Buzzard in the area beyond the fallen gate. Also two Muntjac over there.
